Diaspora Letters will be featured as a Solo Exhibit at the Twelve Gates Arts gallery in Philadelphia from January 23 through February 10, 2018. This is the first gallery exhibition for Diaspora Letters and will feature work shared on the Diaspora Letters Instagram profile as well as never before published original illustrations.

12Gates is a non-profit gallery run by husband and wife duo Atif Sheikh and Aisha Khan. The gallery’s mission is to bring work from artists of color to light. Artists with a South Asian heritage are a major focal poi , but that hasn’t stopped them from reaching beyond those boundaries and featuring work from other marginalized communities.

Constantly on the lookout for new artists to feature, Atif happened to stumble upon the Diaspora Letters Instagram page and showed it to Aisha, who was intrigued. Aisha was shocked to learn the artist behind the drawings was Beeta, whom she was already acquainted with, and quickly planned to make the solo exhibition a reality.

12Gates will host a special opening reception on February 2, from 5:30pm to 8:30pm with artist Beeta Baghoolizadeh in attendance. Guests are welcome to stop by and mingle and learn more about the project and the perspectives on display.
